Dollar Genreal, and old Amoco station

According to records, the land that this Dollar General in the foreground sits on was owned by Union Oil Company in 1978, pointing to a Union '76 station being here. I honestly don't remember some of the 70's vintage stuff this far north on Elvis Presley Blvd., since we didn't go much past Whitehaven Plaza most of the time (and I was way too young to drive myself!). The ownership changed hands many (many!) times here, but nothing hinting at what the current, 1979-built structure was.

According to permit records, the owner was "Renter's Choice" back in 1998: one of those rent to own stores most likely, and it was a title loan place between 1998 up until at least 2004. But other than that, no help at all from the county records on this one. I want to say (with about 95% certainty) I remember this as opening as something called Santa Appliances.

Perhaps I didn't dig deep enough, but Google and YouTube were no help on confirming Santa Appliances. As of the time I'm writing this (July 31), I'm going to attempt to reach out to another local flickr member for help on confirming the Santa Appliances thing...

UPDATE: hickmanjack found evidence for me that there was indeed a such thing as Santa Appliances, which may of been a local / regional chain. No doubt in my mind about it being Santa now! She also remembers this Dollar General being a Corning Revere store (probably shortly after it's run as Santa), a fact which I had forgotten about.

The old Amoco station in the background I did indeed profile five years ago, back when it was branded as a BP. Street view history shows that the rebranding occurred sometime after July 2014.
