This beautifuly dressed lady personifies Lady Sei Shōnagon (清少納言) during the Mifune Sai (三船祭) matsuri in Arashiyama, Kyoto. She was a Japanese author and a court lady who served the Empress Teishi (Fujiwara no Teishi (藤原 定子, 977 – January 13, 1001) around the year 1000 during the middle Heian period. She is best known as the author of The Pillow Book (枕草子- “Makura no Sōshi”).
