32 EC-130J Commando Solo III
The EC-130J is a modified C-130J Super Hercules used to conduct psychological operations (PSYOP) and civil affairs broadcast missions in the standard AM, FM, HF, TV and military communications bands. Missions are flown at the maximum altitudes possible to provide optimum propagation patterns. The Commando Solo III is operated exclusively by the Air National Guard, specifically the 193rd Special Operations Wing (193rd SOW), a Pennsylvania Air National Guard unit operationally gained by the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). The 193rd SOW is based at the Harrisburg Air National Guard Base (formerly Olmstead AFB) at Harrisburg International Airport in Middletown, Pennsylvania.

The EC-130Js participated in Operation Odyssey Dawn, warning Libyan ships to remain in port and flying jamming missions against the Islamic State in Iraq. Earlier iterations of the EC-130 include the EC-130E ABCCC (Airborne Battlefield Command and Control Center) and EC-130E Commando Solo, which entered service in 1978 with the Tactical Air Command (TAC) in 1978. The EC-130H Compass Call was an electronic warfare variant. The US Navy used EC-130G and EC-130Q, equipped with VLF transmitters, to communicate with ballistic missile submarines from 1963 to 1993.
