20 Boeing A/MH-6M ULB
In September 2004, Boeing flew its first Unmanned Little Bird (ULB) demonstrator and made its first autonomous flight a month later. Boeing was demonstrating the ability of one helicopter to be remotely controlled by another, using their Airborne Manned/Unmanned System Technology Demonstration (AMUST-D) program. This technology has appeared in hybrid form with the A/MH-6X MELB.
In this image, the ULB begins a test flight without a pilot! The boxes suspended from the munitions wings hold monitoring equipment and simulate a weapons payload weight similar to those envisioned the ULB would carry.
