Whimsical Whimsy

OK, how can you not love Whimsy? She has such a sweet face, a pleasant personality and was very polite. Really enjoyed our time visiting her in Busch Gardens, Tampa. This was our first up close, animal encounter, and we'd highly recommend it. We were paired up with a trainer who initially showed us (through the glass wall) a number of hand signals which prompted Whimsy to move in different ways so that she could be examined to ensure that she didn't have any injuries. Then we took turns having her follow our signals and having her pose as she would to have her heartbeat, ears, and mouth checked, a shot administered (she was happy that the glass was in place) and to jump up and touch a high spot on a wall to ensure that her mobility is solid. Learned so much about gorillas, but the highlights were connecting 1:1 with her and then going to a viewing are, in the open, which is closer than the general public can access, so that we could watch the two gorillas in more of a natural habitat tailored for them.
