An Indian Courser taking flight in the grasslands
This is a beautiful ground bird found in small groups as they forage for insects in dry open countryside. They frequent those areas where the grass is smaller than their height so that it doesn't block their view of the surroundings. I like their colors which is quite interesting.
The grasslands we visited had a good population of them. They were out in the open foraging on the ground freely without any predators around. This is not the season of raptors yet, so guess they are quite comfortable exposing themselves in short grass. Once the winter sets, the area gets several raptor visitors - all of which prey on this bird. The other creatures around were lots of pipits, larks and around 40-50 Blackbucks which were minding their own business.
Thanks in advance for your wonderful feedback and likes.
