Live Edge Slab Console with Stainless Shelf

Did you know

that Tree experts (Arborists)

have theorized

that when a Box Elder Tree

is infested w/BoxElder Bugs-

one sign of that

is the resulting red color to the wood?

Boxelder bugs are not a serious problem every year.

They are most abundant during hot, dry summers when followed by warm springs.

They were very numerous in 1988, 1987, 1978, 1977, and 1975.

They were also abundant in 1958, 1949, and the hot dry years of 1936 and 1935.

Etiology of Red Stain in Boxelder

A ubiquitous red stain can be found in the sapwood of living boxelder (Acer negundo L.) throughout the range of the species. Because the stain is so frequently encountered, it is often considered to be a reliable characteristic for identifying boxelder wood

Instead, the stain appears to be produced by the tree as a non-specific host response.
