The "border" between Chinatown & Bridgeport
Chicago's a very racially (& ethnically) divided City.
One Street- or set of R.R. Tracks
can be a borderline.
Such is the case of 26th Street.
In this corner of Chicago- Chinatown
-and-to The North of 26th, lies the neighborhood called Bridgeport.
This particular alley, just north of 26th Street.....is also the backside of the building where in 1986
The U.S. Department of Justice decided to wiretap and video-tape, a Mobbed-Up Social Club,
where bookmaker and loan-shark and Debt Collector, nicknamed
"The Hook" was often known to moan and piss about
debts that were late.
"In 1987, the U.S. Government obtained court authorization
to bug the Old Neighborhood Italian American Club,
268 W. 26th St., an alleged front for the 26th Street crew’s headquarters.
Government filings identified the crew’s boss as
Angelo-The Hook- LaPietra,
who was eventually convicted in 1986 along with other top Chicago mob leaders of skimming money from Las Vegas casinos."
