Welcome Sign at Old Sacramento State Historic Park
I've lived here in Sacramento since 2003 and hopefully will be moving this year - I was all set to move in 2020 and then came the pandemic and I have felt much safer staying here for now. Many of my photos here on Flickr have been taken in Old Sacramento.
Old Sacramento is one of my favorite places to visit in the morning and late afternoon/early evening. It is bordered, on the west, by the Sacramento River with spectacular views of the Tower Bridge, the I Street Bridge, and tne Ziggurat and California State Teacher Retirement System buildings on the West Sacramento side of the river.. The Delta King Riverboat Hotel is a great attraction and many of the structures of Old Sacramento retain the original Gold Rush (of 1848) structures. It used to be the departure point for the gold miners and then the families that settled here to get ferries down to San Francisco. Much of the city of Sacramento - the city proper - still retains a significant number of Victorian houses that were built at the same time, many of which are now multi-dwelling units. Here's some information if you're interested in finding out more about it.
