Germans From Bessarabia

This interesting birdhouse, 100+ years of age, sits adjacent to the large stone you see behind it. Inscribed on the stone it says: Germans From Bessarabia. It's located at the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery, one of my most favored local spots for photos (no, I don't see dead people!) as it came into existence during the California Gold Rush era. These Germans from Bessarabia may have come to California to seek their fortune during that era. Maybe someone has repainted the birdhouse as there are many volunteers who come and care for the cemetery. It was overcast and raining (yay!) this morning.
