Sem Benelli castle and its surroundings

Sem Benelli was an Italian poet, writer and playwright, author of texts for the theater and screenplays for the cinema. It wasn’t considered a great artist by critics, but recently his literary talent was revalued as one of the greatest expressions of tragedy in modern times.

In 1914 he built a castle on the cliff of Zoagli, overlooking the sea. This is still called "Sem Benelli Castle". In any architectural particular the castle reveals the personality of the dramatist: the choice of materials among the most diverse and heterogeneous, such as marble, earthenware, bricks and stone reflects the facets of the writer. Majestic and solid, softened by curved lines, surrounded by a unique natural backdrop, the castle is almost a theater to supplement his works.
