Celestion SL6si
Since 80's I craved for a pair of Celestion SL speakers, finally met these great-condition British Celestion speakers 4 months ago.
In early 80's the Celestion has few innovative design features for its SL6, the first speaker of the SL series. Tweeters with copper diaphragm that sound purer-sharper high frequency, Kobex-cone (PVC) - molded woofer cones, and was designed by the aim of laser analysis system that helps SLs distribute sound waves more evenly.
Newer models start using lighter aluminum diaphragm at tweeters when the more expensive copper diaphragm stopped production. And the SL600's honeycomb structure alloy (Aerolam) cabinet produces sounds "as good as" or even "better" than traditional wood cabinets.
So why getting this less regarded late 80's little brother SL6si? They are no different to me before I listen to one, and I enjoy this newer model's performance.
