Clarks Mill belts
Originally driven with a water wheel and then a turbine, the rotational energy was distributed to the mill equipment by a series of spools and belts (one of which is shown in the photo). Amazingly it all still works and is fairly noisy. The mill used to operate 24 / 7 and the belts used to be replaced / fixed while it was still running - imagine trying to do that these days!
The mill is near the river and has been flooded a number of times (you can see the water staining on the wood to the left), and apparently they were able to get up and running again in a day!
