My Favourite Tree - in Winter
There are so many shots of this tree on my photo stream, but I think this is the first with snow.
I have been having a discussion with Mr Woolyboy about landscapes. You see he takes fantabulous ones ... and I don't. I always gravitate back to shots of detail, because that's what fascinates me. He suggested that when I look at a landscape, I try to find a 'section' of it to photograph rather than the widest angle I can get, as that might appeal more to my own particular style of photography. Turns out he was right - I like this little snippet of landscape much better than any of the wide angle shots I took that day. It has the simplicity I like in a shot. Thanks for the advice, Steve! :)
As with all snowy shots, it looks better on black - either click on the image or press the 'L' key on your keyboard.
I know it breaks rules about composition, with the horizon halfway across the picture, but I think I like it enough to use it as my entry for No.75 - Five Minutes from Home, in 112 in 2012.
