Marbled-white Butterfly (with Hoverfly, Episyrphus belteatus), Pampisford, Cambridgeshire 13/7/21

Marbled White - Melanargia galathea along the roadside in Pampisford, Cambridgeshire, 13th July 2021. This is a fairly sizeable colony, with the largest individuals having a 4-5cm wingspan and numbering 18-25 insects. The food plant in these shots is Greater Knapweed, but they were also to be seen on wild Carraway.
