The Stud Muffins Visit Death Valley
What are these four guys doing at Mesquite Flats on top of a sand dune with strobes, reflectors, and assorted cameras? This certainly isn't landscape photography as I understand it. But they were having fun. At one point I watched one of them make a sand angel on a nearby dune.
I understood the college kids trudging up to the top of the tallest dune with their snowboards, even if I was skeptical about the fluid dynamics of "sand boarding".
But these guys?
I didn't get many photos that evening, but I did learn a couple of things. If you don't want tracks in your dune images, show up right after a windstorm and avoid weekend afternoons.
