McWay

Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Big Sur Coast, California

McWay Falls drops onto a beach at high tide as a Pacific Ocean fog rolls in.

The waterfall once dropped directly into the Pacific Ocean, but in 1985 a series of landslides just north of the park dropped huge amounts of sediment into ocean, some of which was redeposited as beach material.
