Magic Window Cookies

 

3/4 cups shortening

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon salt

6 packages Lifesavers

 

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients; cover and chill 1 hour. Roll and cut; cut out centers; place on foil-covered baking sheets. Put lifesaver in cut outs - chop for small areas - fill until level with dough; make holes for hanging. Bake 375 degrees for 7-9 minutes, spread candy immediately if needed; cool on cookie sheets.
