Green Heron - Camouflage

Searching in vain, for a vagrant juvie Franklin Gull - That's the thing about birding, you go looking for one thing, but often find another. For me it's a daily reminder of the Buddhist principle of non-attachment :-)

 

There's been a surfeit of green herons at one of our sewage treatment plates (excuse me, "Water Pollution Control Treatment Plant"). As always they are incredibly well camouflaged. I spotted this one, trying to hide, and while focusing on this one, I eventually realized that there were 3 others around it, all trying to blend into the scenery. They're the most green Green Herons I've seen in a while.
