Pilsbury Castle
"Pilsbury Castle, guarding the valley of the Upper Dove, is one of the most evocative places in the White Peak. It is also one of the best preserved motte-and-bailey castle sites in the Park, the double earthworks still standing out clearly in the sheep-cropped grass and overlooked by a sentinel limestone crag. The fortifications are thought to have been built during the troubled reign of King Stephen"
