Live Draw - Dallas (Fujiroid Oilgraphs) - II

It was an intense evening...

Rapid fire from the time the doors opened for the benefit art event where 7 of us were making instant art for auction to support Artists Against Cancer.

The tickets were pricey and the pressure to create at the top of your game was high. I did my main piece (forthcoming) early on and basically spent the evening making portraits for whoever was willing to write a check.

The other six artists were drawing and painting from the three art models 2 rooms over. For the first time since I started doing this event, I never shot a single model. I did these all night.

They were done in minutes using Fujiroid* prints glued down and painted on the spot.

I'm not sure how I feel about them. I did my best. These are the only ones I had a chance to reshoot on the fly. The rest are off in the world somewhere. People kept asking me if I had fun and my response was always, "I think so."

In all honesty the highlight of the evening was meeting someone who was previously an "Invisible Friend" here on Flickr but one whose work (and spirit) I have admired for a long time.

More tales from that soon. But for now, these are the uneasy product of a totally unquantifiable night.

But thank you, Brittany... you made my night...

*Fujiroid is basically the only licensed version of poloroid still being produced. I won't call them polaroids because they're not. Polaroid ruined their world wide market through myopic idiocy and ended an era for millions of artists. Well done guys....
