My brother Marlon’s brand new Batman tattoo
He’s been talking about getting this tattoo for years.
I grew up with Marvel comics of the 60s and 70s – Spidey, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the original pre-Wolverine X-men. (I cherished my Neal Adams back issues.)
The Watchmen mostly finished off superhero comics for me. I thought it was pretty much the last word on the subject. My brother was seven when DC published Alan Moore’s masterpiece in 1986 and grew up reading post-Watchmen superhero comics.
My brother grew up loyal to DC comics. Of course, I have a huge place in my heart for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, and Marlon always loved Spiderman and the Hulk along with his DC comics. (Mom painted his room hulk green and purple at one point.)
I helped him adapt the logo to a tattoo, and the tattoo artist seems to have done okay. Marlon paid for the tattoo by doing some work for the tattoo parlour.
