D200 IR Focus Adjustment
You may have heard of adjusting focus using the hex screws in the mirror chamber:

(The D200 has the same screws as the D70).
These screws are useful for minor focus calibrations, but they proved insufficient for the adjustments I required. Nevertheless, I suggest you tinker with them prior to attempting the procedure described below.

Alternate method (illustrated in picture):
If you pop off the bottom panel of the D200, you will notice three hex screws below the lens mount. These screws are partially hidden by a circuit board, so a flashlight may prove helpful in locating them.
