Piedmont Flour Mills

This abandoned flour mill was likely built in the 1870s. The Piedmont Flour Mills provided flour to the confederate troops during the American Civil War and to United Nations relief programs in World War II. It operated into the second half of the 20th century. The storage towers on the uphill side of the site were added much later. The mill eventually ceased production in 1987.

In September, 2009, the building was purchased by investors Larry Cluff and Chris Chadick, who intend to renovate the structure.
