Orthodox Church, Pyongyang
평양 정교사원.
The Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Pyongyang was opened in 2003 on a whim of Kim Jong Il who had visited an orthodox church during his rail trip to Russia in 2001. Like other churches in Pyongyang, it is a "show church" for foreigners only. A high wall keeps curious North Koreans away. A North Korean priest trained in Russia celebrates the mass but Koreans are not allowed to attend. Most worshippers are members of the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang.
