Water drips from a leaking faucet off the side of a pier into a marina, May 9, 2014. The irony alone is mind bending but the reasons behind the need for Americans to conserve water is eye opening. The U.S. population has doubled over the past 50 years, thus the thirst for water has tripled. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, at least 36 states are already facing water shortages and the need to conserve water is becoming more and more critical.
