SX-BKH Boeing 737-4Q8 Olympic Airlines DUS 29JUL06

Replacing an earlier digital photo with a slightly better version 05-Jan-23. My original is missing from the file so I've just had to smooth out some of the pixilation's on the one I'd uploaded previously.

This aircraft was delivered to ILFC International Lease Finance Corporation and leased to Malaysia Airlines as 9M-MJA in Mar-90. It was returned to the lessor in Feb-94.

It was leased to Braathens S.A.F.E (Norway) as LN-BUB in Mar-94 and returned to the lessor in Nov-96. The aircraft was leased to Carnival Airlines (USA) as N407KW later the same month. Carnival was merged into the second version (I think) of Pan Am, Pan American World Airlines in Oct-97 and returned to the lessor in Mar-98.

The aircraft was leased to Olympic Airways as SX-BKH in Jun-98. They continually lost money and ceased operations in Dec-03. They re-opened the following day as Olympic Airlines with more backing from the Greek Government.

At the insistence of the EU, the Greek Government had to stop bailing the airline out and Olympic Airlines ceased operations at the end of Sep-09, and on 01-Oct-09 Olympic Air was born!

This aircraft didn't make the cut and was stored at Athens before being returned to the lessor in Dec-09 and stored at Shannon (Ireland). The registration D-ALAC was reserved by ILFC but wasn't used and it became EI-ELW with Boeing Capital Leasing in Apr-10.

In Aug-10 the aircraft was transferred to BCC Equipment Leasing as N790BC and ferried to Roswell, NM, USA for continued storage. It was sold to AerSale Inc in Sep-10 and was permanently retired at Roswell. It was eventually broken up at Roswell and the registration was cancelled in Jul-17. Updated 05-Jan-23.
