Ordered by the UK Ministry of Defence for the RAF Royal Air Force, this aircraft was delivered as XR828, a VC-10 C.1, in Jul-66. It was converted to VC-10 C.1K standard in Feb-97.
After 47 years in service with the Royal Air Force, XR808 was the last VC-10 to be retired in Jul-13. It was due to be flown to the RAF Museum at Cosford, UK but the runway wasn't suitable for a VC-10. Instead, it was stored at Bruntingthorpe, UK.
It was dismantled at Bruntingthorpe and moved to Cosford in sections. It was rebuilt at Cosford and was put on display there in Nov-15. Updated 23-Dec-21.
