Forde Abbey
Taken in summer 2002 on a Kiev 4AM with the Jupiter 50mm standard lens. Forde Abbey, on the Devon/Dorset border, has been a privately-owned residence since the dissolution of the monasteries in the 1530's. This image is an exercise in nostalgia - black & white film, but scanned as colour & manipulated in Photoshop to remind me of the sepia toned photos in the Arthur Mee series of books The King's England I remember from my childhood. To do this proper justice, I probably should have used a large-format camera. Last summer, I returned with a 6x9cm medium format camera, and captured this image: www.flickr.com/photos/keithpatterson/147192588/
