Mountain Bluebird

A male Mountain Bluebird looks for insects from his perch on top of a small spruce, a classic spring pose. When they first arrive in April, temperatures are relatively cold and the ground is mostly covered in snow here in the Yukon. They are usually seen near patches of open-ground and south-facing slopes. I have no idea how they manage to find insects as there are none to be seen, but somehow they manage.
