DESCRIPTION

Photograph of Noah Cooke house, 136 West Street, Keene New Hampshire. The house was built in 1791 by Noah Cooke, one of Cheshire County's most distinguished lawyers. It was purchased in 1906 by Horatio Colony, Keene's first mayor and was occupied by members of the Colony family until 1966. For some time, it was the home of Major General James A. Frye and his wife, Kate Colony Frye. For years the road at the front of the house separated and ran on both sides of the old Cooke elm. The house was moved in 1973.
