Runciman & Tuchman

These are books in my library - the three-volume boxed set "A History of the Crusades" by Stephen Runciman, and A Distant Mirroe by Barbara Tuchman.

Runciman alsowrote a book called "The Fall of Constantinople" that is one of my favorite history books. It got me deeper into the subject after reading an article about it in (a now-defunct) Mankind magazine. Those channeled me deeper into the era, along the way finding medieval & Renaissance music (my favorite music to listen to), and researching the 15th and 16th centuries. Reading Braudel’s books really got me into it. And there was Waltari’s fiction, “The Wanderer”." A terrific read... the unintending lead character, bumbling through life into the right opportunities somehow...

The books i this photo are generally earlier than the time period I'm most into, but history in general grabsme...

I used a watercolor filter on the photo. I like the effect...
