Return to the Stone Bridge

26 July 2014 - a hot and humid day 30 miles west of Washington DC. It was if this elderly man returned to the bridge along Warrenton Turnpike, where he stood vigilant during muggy daybreak of 21 July 1861. At early light the sound of cannons disrupted the chirp of courting crickets. The first shots of the ground war (after Ft. Sumter) rang out.
