Cold Korean Winter

1950 was a tumultuous year. Uncle Joe Stalin sought to expand the Soviet Empire further in Asia in pursuit of ice-free ports on the Pacific, using North Koreans as proxy fighters. President Truman saw Communist Dominos continuing to fall. US troops fell back to the Busan Perimeter. Gen McArthur led a daring attack into Incheon Harbor, pushing enemy lines back toward the Yalu River. Troops believed they would be home for Christmas. Chinese fearing Americans on their border, attacked. With the Chinese came bitter cold winds from Manchuria. December 1950 - a frigid time for William Windrich to die. Medal of Honor recipient; story at www.arlingtoncemetery.net/windric3.htm
