Shuggie!!
Scotland: Through My Eyes
Alright .. settle down at the back .. and stop bloody sniggering or there'll be tears before bedtime!
This is my first attempt at compiling a video slide show, undertaken at the suggestion of my close friend and mentor Ian Graham. Since, as you well know, I have all the arty farty capability of a retarded chimpanzee, Ian had the majority input regarding which images to include, the order in which they should be presented, the general format of the presentation etc. etc.
Specifically, this slide show was created and uploaded for entry into the League of Extraordinary Photographers, a group set up for the sole purpose of displaying slide shows.
The accompanying music (yes .. I can do music) is called "Soitheach nan Daoine" (The Ship of the People) and commemorates a particularly sad episode when, during 1739, many Skye folk were kidnapped and removed by sea to the Carolinas to work as virtual slaves. It was composed, and is played, by Blair Douglas, a Skye-based musician of prodigious talent, and is one of the most evocative pieces of music I have ever heard .. but then I'm a big old softy who suffers from emotional incontinence at the best of times! Check out his website here. Scroll through his "Songs" playlist to find Ceitidh Fiona's Waltz .. if your feet don't start tapping to the music, you have no soul!
