Shuggie!!
City of the Dead (1)
Glasgow Necropolis.
This is the final resting place of the great and good (and rich!) of 19th century Glasgow who were seeking immortality through the stonemasons' art. It is sited on one of the plethora of drumlins (wee hills) on which Glasgow is built, and has some of the best views in the City .. although I imagine the residents aren't overly impressed.
It is particularly interesting that a goodly proportion of the more flamboyant of the monuments are for ministers of religion and their families. I make no comment, other than to enquire rhetorially what happened to "the meek shall inherit the earth" ..
