Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton from "The Notebook" homemade Halloween couples costume (October 2007)
It took a lot of hassling to get him to dress up like this for Halloween but he finally agreed! The girls thought the costume was cute, the men had no clue what we were. Many people thought I was a vintage civil war person...
How we did it
Noah Calhoun Costume:
White Dress Shirt, Gray work pants, Black Sneakers, Scruffy beard... all items he already owned or achieved so it was FREE!
Allie Hamilton Costume:
Dress: Vintage blue shirt/waitressing/housekeeping dress from eBay (about $15). I altered the collar, short sleeves and buttons to be trimmed/covered in blue floral fabric to look like her dress in the movie (the patterned fabric was free since it was scraps left over in my mom's sewing room). I painted a white buckle on the belt of the dress to match hers in the movie.
Accessories: 365 envelopes tied together (yes I really did count out that many! about $4 at the dollar store) Pearl necklace and earrings. White short heels.
Hair & Makeup: Bright red lipstick. Hair parted and pulled to the back in a low ponytail.
*Note, there is one colored envelope at the top of the stack that is opened with the letter sticking out. I actually freeze framed the movie to duplicate the very last letter that he wrote to her.
Total Cost of both costumes together: $19
