[ I'm feeling nice, so if you want a nice large copy of this shot, click here..... ]
40 years ago, (ten days late) the US put a man on the moon, back in 1969 this was a huge moment, it's still a big deal today. On July 20th 1969 Neil Alden Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon.
Inspiration taken from here.
Enjoy.
- Canon 50D.
- ISO 100, f9 1/400, 10mm.
- Sigma 10-20mm lens.
- Tripod.
Processing
- 21 Shot HDR panoramic, 7 sections, 3 shots at each, shot in portrait.
- De saturation, (is that a word, haha) anyhow as this was shot at dawn, the colours were way to blown.
- Photoshopped moon.
About Apollo 11
The Apollo 11 mission was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. It was the fifth human spaceflight of Project Apollo and the third human voyage to the Moon. It was also the second all-veteran crew in manned spaceflight history. Launched on July 16, 1969, it carried Mission Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin Eugene 'Buzz' Aldrin, Jr. On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to land on the Moon, while Collins orbited above.
The mission fulfilled President John F.Kennedy's goal of reaching the moon by the end of the 1960s, which he expressed during a speech given before a joint session of Congress on May 25, 1961

About the Fingal Point Lighthouse
The Fingal Head Lighthouse was erected in 1872 of stone, and painted white, the tower had a fixed white light of 1,000 candelas.
Even though the light tower is not high and it is built on a low headland the light is effective as it is built on one of the most easterly points of Australia with plenty of deep water offshore.
The original kerosene wick burner was converted to automatic acetylene operation in 1920 with an output of 1,500 candelas and altered to group flashing
