This picture captures the near-fatal fall to death of our bus. During the 11 hour bus ride across southern Uganda, our bus nearly fell off the side of the road as it had lost momentum going up an inclined narrow road as another vehicle was coming down the road. Our bus had to slow down so it could squeeze by. After the vehicle had passed, our bus tried to resume acceleration up the pass, but in vain started spinning its wheels as we drifted off the side of the road. The bus was being supported by a single tree trunk. One man yelled that we were going to fall off the cliff, so everyone immediately evacuated the bus to avoid death and lighten the load of the bus. Then the men went to the back of the bus to help push it from behind. After much black smoke and shredding of bus tires, the bus manage to escape...the perfect introduction into Africa.
