1950s shops

...at Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole, North Yorkshire.

As its name suggests, the museum shows the history of how North Yorkshire folk have lived from the earliest inhabitants up to around the 1950s. Various historic buildings are set in six acres, many of them transported from their original locations, reconstructed, and faithfully restored to how they would have been decorated and furnished at the time they were originally built.

The 1950s shop and post-office came from moorland village Rosedale East, whilst the chemist made its way to the museum when Helmsley chemist was modernised in the 1960s.
