Hotel du Cap d'Antibes - Eden Roc
My first trip to Europe was in 1958 and while staying in Nice, we were taken by friends on a tour of the area, which included a short 30 minute visit to Eden Roc, the pool at the Hotel du Cap D'Antibes. That became the seed of a daydream for a future visit and thanks to the dollar being a lot better in those days than it is today and that we did not yet have kids, we splurged at the du Cap in 1973 and 1978. The hotel and the grounds managed to live up to my exalted expectation, although the renovation after 1973 did not improve things for us. But spending an afternoon or two at the splendid pool overlooking the Mediterranean, is still one of my best travel memories.
