carpentry-in-the-dark: Île Yvette-Naubert

the 3rd tower at last, now lost!
primary coärchitects: Catherine Johnston, Carly Pereira, Jessica Pieterse, Kelsea Shore (special thanks to Dennis Barchet & Lucky Ron for various donations, particularly window-wise), with labour help from Jennifer Books, Rachel Lindsey & Brian Pirie (& drivers Stephen Brockwell, Marilyn Irwin & Ben Walker (& rafter Matt Watson)).
very special thanks, too, for paintings donated by Nathalie Grice, Georgia Mathewson, Rob Ouellette & Rachel Zavitz.
tower 1 was in 1992; tower 2 in 1994.
a long interim between then & 2o14, during which many a plot had been hatched to continue, the most ambitious being the idea of transporting materials by hopping freight & heaving it off somewhere near a remote river until enough'd accumulated to work with.
instead, the chance discovery of a stashed raft & finding of materias to build another led to hanging out on an island in Hull & accumulating a stash of firewood, including a lot of construction site detritus. it didn't take too much time to realize it might be a good spot to try again.
though a bunch of these shots're from daytime, most of our construction work was done in the dark, only firelight faintly illuminating the upper reaches that face it & candlelight for some interior work (& Carly's headlamp).
unfortunately, a trio of arsonholes appears to've accidentally burned down tower 3 before its completion, nullifying the work put in by everyone, the enjoyment of it by far more than those who built it & consigning a significant collection of art to oblivion. it is with sincerest seriousness that i wish for them lives of futility & frustration as other felchheads fuck them up in all their pinheaded endeavours.
subsequently, a site has been found for a 4th attempt, thanks due already to Marilyn Irwin (driving), Rachel Lindsey (clearing) Bonnie Penfold (salvage spotter, donation of a bag of nails), Kelsea Shore (clearing), Ben Walker (driving, ferrying, clearing), Rachel Zavitz (salvage spotter) & my landlord's dad (donation of a good slab of plywood floor).
