Notch Hill
"The small decaying Catholic church is in desperate need of help. Built in 1922 by a local farmer to serve his community, it was abandoned in 197o. It faces the main line, sitting between the tracks and the farm field. A small group of locals has begun the necessary restoration. It was lightly built and at its worst had developed a significant lean. The roof had partially caved in and it was in imminent risk of complete collapse. The building will not be moved, but is being restored in place. Access will be available through the generosity of the local farmer, ensuring a lasting addition to the town and a photographic feature for those who watch trains there. While not a railway structure, it is important to this railway town and those of us who visit there. If you want to help preserve this iconic building, tax-deductible donations can be made through the website www.savenotchhillchurch.ca." – D.A.Love, Notch Hill: Built on Steam, in CP TRACKS vol.11 #4, ed.Peter Winterton, Streetsville, feb.2o13
