black-crowned night heron young

though i've seen a few of these adults around previously over the years here, it's been nothing like the sudden current proliferation of nests on one of the islands in the Lemieux group, assumedly due to the general disruption all around the river during this spring's floods, which has displaced, for instance, entire colonies of gulls as a result of the submergence of their islands.
