3186 Soft Evening

Just before sunset, in the shadow of low clouds a gull passed silently along the ridge line where other clouds caressed the peaks. Families gather in homes on the "Riviera" hillside above Santa Barbara and Montecito for Thanksgiving leftovers, some perhaps glancing up to notice clouds on bare slopes where smoke rose from the recent Jesusita Fire.
