2011.12.09 Artrageous Tim Schorre

iPod Touch, iPad / finger

Paintbook and Artrage Apps

From imagination, freehand from a photo in paintbook, and directly from the paintbook sketch in artrage.

Oh, put it down for a couple hours at least at this point.

Much as I love that nose, looking at the portrait as a whole, I think it's going to have to go... or at least be toned down and shrunk a bit.

In any event, the process here was I started with a paintbook sketch from imagination of the left eye and cheek, then pulled that into a complete paintbook sketch of Tim from a photo, then brought that sketch into artrage as a layer and painted over it, sampling color frequently from the original sketch. Eventually I took out the paintbook sketch layer and worked on getting it to look a little more like Tim, most noticably in the eyes and shape of the top of his head. Of course I still haven't got his skin color quite right.

Mostly what I'm personally thinking about these days is how the volume of the face recedes in every direction from the nose.
