MADMAN: Strange Adventures of a Psychology Intern
We interrupt this program on bubbles to announce that my novel MADMAN: Strange Adventures of a Psychology Intern was just published. The book cover was a family project. I took the photos (which I posted here in flickr many months ago), my daughter Kira (a UCLA design student) worked on typography, and my wife Debra and daughter Asia consulted on the overall design as well as created the back cover text.
I wrote the novel for students studying topics like psychotherapy, counseling, and abnormal psychology. My students, who have been reading unpublished versions of the manuscript, say they love it. Also interesting is the fact that when I recently showed one of my classes a rapid slide show of 200 images (as part of an exercise about how we react to photos), the image that captured their attention most was this shot of a foggy road – even though my students have never seen this book cover. Coincidence? Synchronicity?
... Breaking News!... MADMAN won the 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Award for First Novel.
