The True Path
I’m posting this one for my friend Tom, who wanted to see the original version of The Sign. This is as close as is humanly possible to the scene as recorded by my camera (Canon 20D). It’s the raw file, with even the auto adjustments turned off in Photoshop’s raw converter – i.e., it’s not the onboard processed jpeg that many people download from their digital camera. The only unavoidable manipulations occurred when I resized and converted the image to a jpeg in order to post it to flickr, and any processing flickr adds when we upload our images (like their sharpening process).
And so, for me, that raises an interesting question: Is this what the scene “really” looked like? Is this the “true” image?
