Opus 40 Tower
Opus 40 is a sculpture park and museum built in an old bluestone quarry about half-way between Woodstock and Saugerties, New York. The park was built by Harvey Fite, a professor of art at Bard College, over a period of 37 years. Fite's original intent was to arrange the bluestone into pedestals to display his sculptures. However, once he put up this central tower he realized the quarry itself would be the sculpture.
