Late Afternoon at the Crest

Again from the Archives: a June 29, 1977 photograph of some remote location between ten and twelve thousand feet in the High Sierra.
Most of our backpacking trips then were in the areas of Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Incredible scenery well above the tree line, fresh cool uncontaminated water here, there and everywhere. It was the way our world used to be. Generally, I travelled with a close friend on trips like this rather than a group of three or more. Said friend is still around, living well in San Francisco. We talk occasionally.
This image was recorded with a Pentax Spotmatic probably loaded with Ektachrome transparency film. The Pentax is long gone, but the original slide remains. It was scanned with a Plustek 8200i running Silverfast software and digitized as a PDF file.
For presentation here It was run through Topaz DeNoise AI, Topaz Sharpen AI, Topaz Adjust Ai, Camera Raw Filter, Photoshop and Lightroom.

If you should run the slideshow, please ensure that is is presented fullscreen on the largest display yoiu have, with sound. Earbuds, headphones or theater-quality speakers work best.
